Early Passion for Social Media

I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, where my fascination with social media and content creation started at a very young age. Growing up during the rise of platforms like YouTube in the 2010s, I became deeply inspired by creators building careers and communities online.

In middle school, I spent countless hours watching YouTube creators across different industries and was drawn to the idea of building something of my own. Even though I had doubts - like wondering how a 12 year old could become a creator, I decided to try anyway and started my own channel.

I experimented with different types of content, including singing covers and reaction videos. Along the way, I taught myself video editing, photo editing, and basic graphic design skills. I continued creating content through my junior year of high school before eventually stepping away as school and extracurriculars became more demanding, and my creative interests evolved.

A Shift in Direction

After graduating high school in 2020, I moved to Tampa, Florida to attend the University of Tampa. I initially planned to study Psychology with the goal of becoming a psychiatrist, driven by a desire to help others with mental health challenges.

However, during the COVID-19 lockdown, my perspective began to shift. I realized I wanted to build a business, but I wasn’t yet sure what that would be. I explored different ideas, from a boutique to a self-care clothing brand, and ultimately declared Entrepreneurship as my major during my first two years.

Rediscovering Marketing

Toward the end of my college sophomore year, I came across a job opportunity as a Marketing Coordinator for UTampa’s wellness organization. As a student looking for experience (and income), I applied and unknowingly stepped into a role that would reignite my passion for social media.

I managed marketing requests from over 10 wellness clubs and ran the organization’s Instagram page. That experience expanded into deeper involvement in marketing initiatives, including working with my university’s American Marketing Association student agency and completing an internship focused on content creation and social media management.

Through these roles, I rediscovered how much I enjoyed combining creativity, strategy, and storytelling through digital platforms.

Professional Growth

After graduating in 2024 with a degree in Marketing, I transitioned directly into my first full-time role in the field. I was also brought on by my internship company to build their influencer marketing program from the ground up.

These experiences allowed me to develop hands-on expertise in social media strategy, content creation, and influencer marketing while working in fast-paced, real-world environments.

Founding Starlight Social Marketing

Now, two years post-grad, my passion for creativity, social media, and helping others grow has led me to launch Starlight Social Marketing

As social media continues to evolve into a more community-driven space, my mission is to help small businesses build authentic relationships with their audience through intentional content and strategy rooted in genuine connection, not just numbers.
